Malibu Nights (Gainesville, FL) is invading Brooklyn on Thursday 7/13!
Malibu Nights was conceived in Gainesville, FL by several friends in
2010 with the sole purpose of throwing a few legendary, outdoor dance events that would truly represent the rowdy, string light-lined
backyard parties and impromptu street festivals they had experienced growing up in the Ft. Lauderdale and Miami areas of South Florida.
Beyond embracing the collision of cultures found in South Florida,
Malibu Nights had to be radically different: in lieu of the photoshop-ready club templates that plagued the college town’s car
windows, they opted to enlist creative friends and respected artists
to curate completely original designs to promote these events. The
exhausted soundtrack of Top 40 hits and “Sweet Caroline” found at most bars in the college town was either completely disregarded or
reinterpreted and reintegrated with the waist-throbbing dembow rhythmsfound in dancehall and reggaeton, footwork-paced Jersey club beats, or the subwoofer-pounding sounds of Miami bass.
7 years and 300+ events later, we’re still here and excited to bring
the noise to NYC!!!
